The Nanzhao County is situated in the North of the Nanyang Basin, at the south foot of the Funiushan Mountain; in the southwest of the Henan Province. There are 16 small towns and 337 administrative village under the jurisdiction of the county government, with a population of 592000. The area of the county is 2946 square kilometers, in which cultivated land is 39000 mu. On average each person farms 7 fen land. The general layout of every 7 mu mountain area is planned to build, one water conservancy facility, one mu paddy field one road and one village.

The first is that Nanzhao has a long history and a jurisdiction for giving birth to outstanding men. The second is that the county is rich in natural resources. The proven mineral resources are over 46 kinds.Gold copper, lead zinc, marble, granite, and calcareous rock have most workable reserves. Sunset-clouds-red rock, tiger-skin-red rock, cloud-mist jade, white marble and other rocks of 18 kinds with best quality in all have the most reserve in the Henan province. The cement grey rock has 120,000,000 tons of total reserve, its exploitable reserve is 10,000,000 tons. The total reserve of lead and zinc are over 40000 tons. Three mineral belts of gold have been found with total reserve of 60 tons. In the jurisdiction there are over 100 big and small rivers with a total length of 1990 km. The total quantity of water resource is 1,290,000,000 cubic meters. In the whole county there are 3370000 mu of mountainous land with forest of 9800000 mu with forests of 44.1%. There are over 180 kinds of trees such as oak trees, China firs and so on, used as building materials, 142 kinds of cash forests, such as apples, flowers buds of lily magnolia (magnolia liliflora), tung oil trees, the fruit of medical cornel (cornus of incinalis), actinidia chinensis, which are called five big treasures of the county. There are various meadows of 2600000 mu, where 3000000 sheep can be pastured, surface water of 74000 mu, which can be used as fish farms. There are tussah (Antheraea pernyi) slopes of 1050000 mu, which are one of production bases of tussah, in which tussah silkworm breading quantity and the quantity of tussah cocoons exceeds the province's by half with annual output of tussah by 5000 tons, so the county is usually called Zhao-half province.
The third is that the county products famous and special products. The main outputs of apples, peanuts chestnuts, walnuts, persimmons occupy the main positions in the whole province. Apples output ranks the third in the province. The flower buds of lily magnolia, cornus officinalis, the bark of ewcommia (Evcommia ulmoides) are special Chinese medicinal herbs. The famous and excellent products are: carpets, drawwork embroidered clothes, car-semi axes, benzene anhydride Huibi cypresses, tussah silk and others. The annual output of carpets amounts to 1700000 square feet and ranks the first in the whole country. The drawwork embroidered clothes annually amount to 800000 suits, ranking the first in the province. The Huibi show cypresses are used as food stuff packing materials of new type in the Japanese markets by over 70%.
The fourth is that there are many famous places for their scenery or historical relics in Nanzhao county. The tourist resources consist of natural scenery and human cultural scenery, such as the scenic area at the southern foot of the Shirenshan Mountain, the mouth of the Yahe River Reservoir, the Danxia Temple. The natural scenery possesses the distinguishing character is the ties of majesty in the north and the delicacy in the south. Baotianman is classified as a nature protecting post of national grade, where there are 29 kinds of plants, 11 kinds of animals, is called a depot of the concourse of the natural plants from the south and he north. The human cultural landscape has a long history, Xinghuashan Mountain "Nanzhao ape man relic" is one of the seven relics in the whole country and the only one in Henan province. Danxiasi (the Red Glow Temple) was built in the fourth year of the Changqing's reign of the Tang dynasty. "The Funiu Mountain is 800 square li, while Danxia Mountain is 500 square li." says the Chinese history.

The new project Yahe Thermal Power station with 2 x 35000kw has been completed in use with China-Spain joint investment. The county 's cities Nanzhao, Yunyang, Yahe are the key development posts with ready water, electricity basic equipment and installations and are ideal places for investment. There are more than 40 small industry and business sections with a certain scale.

The township enterprises earned foreign exchange by 900 million yuan, ranked the first in successive 5 years in the whole province. In the period of the ninth five-year plan, the regulated items have been realized, which have favorable prospects ad beneficial results, are main items, such as benzene anhydride, car semi-axes, small water power stations, gold, tourism, have been or will be the growing items of the economic development of the county.
